Player of the Month – January

Tye Spencer – Saskatoon Maniacs

DraftGeek’s player of the month for the month of January is Tye Spencer of the Saskatoon Maniacs. In nine games with the Saskatoon Maniacs, Spencer posted an astonishing 32 points which include 23 goals. Spencer is a returnee to the Maniacs after a near point per game rookie season last year.  Spencer currently sits second in the SBAAHL in points but he is well ahead in goals with 54 so far, already surpassing first round pick Gabe Klassen’s total last season. Spencer is expected to be a top player at this weekend Sask First event and currently sits as a top 60 pick on our rankings list.

Tye Spencer is the complete offensive package for a young forward. He’s got first class speed both with and without the puck the blends well with his soft touch on the puck. Able to play and excel at all paces of the game. Quick release on a pin point shot that he’s confident he can score from anywhere with. Always has his head up and reading developing plays in the offensive zone. Exploits weaker skating defenders and can dazzle with creativity off the rush. Currently ranked in our third round but close to being a second round selection for us.
