Report: Leading scorer of his OHA Penticton team with 52 points, Zimmer was the catalyst for creating most of his teams scoring chances and generating offense. A rangy power winger who checks all the boxes. At his best when he keeps his feet going and plays with some tempo/energy.  Zimmer has a galloping stride equipped with agile footwork and power. A north-south player that can gather straight-line speed quickly. He’s got an elite shot and uses at a high volume, he can release it on a dime from both a static position and in stride. Despite being a right handed shot he often uses his shot when attacking down the left side against the grain. Zimmer has developed good WHL habits, learning that he can win footraces below the goal line if he puts pucks deep. Zimmer’s play away from the puck is top five in his draft class. He’s proactive with his movement and will put his stick in a spot to receive in stride, often being the trigger man for his team’s transitional play. No hesitation attacking defenseman one on one when at top speed, his rangy frame and strong base let him drive the puck. A hard working back checker that uses his suffocating speed on both sides of the puck. Fearless and a tenacious fore checker that coaches will love to have on their team. Controlling the puck effortlessly on his forehand and back hand at top speed and being able to execute plays at top speed. Zimmer’s physical strength is something that is already above his age and will continue to improve as he moves up to the next level. He’s a high volume shooter and he always will be that but he’s also someone who can set up team mates. At his best when he’s playing with a high motor, if his feet are going so are his points. Expect him to play on the power play at the WHL level, likely on the right side so his shot is a threat. Zimmer’s awareness to adjusting situations and naturally gifted physical tools make him a high demand player at the draft as he will steadily improve. Future top six winger.
