Game Report : GTHL Prospect Game – December 10, 2019

Final Score:

Team White 6   –  Team Black 2

#8 Pano Fimis – F

Pano played a well-rounded game tonight absolutely dominating the face-off circle.  He likely went 70 to 80% in the dot and I don’t think he lost a draw till the 3rd period.  A strong player who has an impact with and without the puck.   He scored one of his team’s two goals on the night and unassisted at that.   Curling out of the corner with the puck Fimis worked his way out till he got a clean look and ripped a beautiful shot top left corner.

#5 Alec Leonard – D

Alec is an excellent defender who keeps a tight gap.  This was on display tonight as he stepped up a number of times in the neutral zone with at least one big open ice hit.  Alec is a good skater and rushes the puck often and is able to get successful zone entries as a result.  He plays a bit of a rugged game but is also highly skilled. His error ratio to puck possession tonight was excellent.  He drew a penalty and played well on the PP.  He is consistently able to get pucks through defenders. A number of times he fired perfect shot passes in between the hash marks and the top of the crease for excellent deflection opportunities.

#2 Ty Nelson – D

Nelson is a gifted skater with unbelievable lateral movement and speed.  He excels in closing forwards off trying to go wide and uses his skating ability to dominate the opposition and to recover when necessary.  His decision making ability was superb as he always seemed to make the right play.  He did a great job on the PK including no failed clear attempts, his passes were precise under pressure and never disrupted breakout flow.

#87 Stefan Forgione – F       ( Bantam AAA – 3 on 3 during intermission )

What a special player Stefan appears to be.  He absolutely dominated the 3 on 3 and was the best player on both teams by a mile.  He has speed, creativity off the charts and is an excellent goal scorer.  Despite a few 60 second shifts during 1st period intermission in the prospect game Stefan successfully attempted a lacrosse style goal from behind the net.  He appeared to lift the puck up streaking down LW then tried to bounce the puck past the defender as he crossed the blue line.  He scored a beautiful goal on a breakaway and setup a number of opportunities as well.
