There is a reason why Harrison Lodewyk was named captain of the Red Deer Rebels this past season over other returning forwards, this kid has the ‘it’ factor and high character off the ice. Lodewyk is an enthusiastic two-way center that possesses separation level speed and a dynamic 200ft game. Lodewyk accomplishes a lot in all three zones, he’s a hard working player that sets a positive example for others on the ice. Adheres to blowing by defenseman wide, using his quick hands to get them to commit inside before taking that outside route to the net. He’s able to pull it to both sides of his body quickly allowing him to quickly release the puck off the stick and throw off the goalie when combining that with the speed he presents. Explosive first step, he uses it to catch up offensively or come back on the back check. Commits to both sides of the puck. Good defensive awareness to play to the middle of the ice and pick off any passes attempts around the net, always seems to be in the vicinity of the puck and makes a big presence on the game. Extends puck possession time with his relentless puck pursuing. The trigger point for his team’s break out, he’s carrying the puck through the neutral zone nine times out of ten. Biggest assets are his speed, feet, and intensity. Could improve his offensive zone play as he is a bit of a two-way guy at times. At times it seems he moves quicker than his brain can process which is something he could improve. Will not have any pace issues. Second line WHL center who can play in all situations, similar to Liam Keeler.
