It was very close between Sam Oremba and Kalan Lind, but we gave the edge to Sam Oremba as we felt he was superior in terms of speed, discipline, and consistency. Oremba lead the SBAAHL in scoring last season with 133 points in 31 games, he also got the opportunity to play in the SMHL as well where he had three points in five games with the Regina Pat Canadiens. Oremba was outstanding at the Western Crown tournament in January where he dominated the field scored on what seemed like every shift. Sam Oremba is a monster offensive force. Quite possibly the most dynamic offensive player in bantam hockey, he’s got elite level speed, elite level puck control in tight quarters, and fierce opportunistic scoring abilities. Oremba possesses a non-stop motor, he’s working on both sides of the puck using his vision to anticipate the play and service himself in an effective position to execute on. Cerebral and proactive – Oremba can locate holes in defensive coverage quickly and make those fast one touch passes to the exposed area. Oremba decision making below the goal line is intelligent, he’s able to see the entire offensive zone and pick up on lanes quickly, delivering a hard and heavy pass to his team mates stick, everything comes off his stick quickly and its difficult for defenseman to react to. A player who can beat defenders in a multitude of ways. He’s got good size and strength, combined with his speed Oremba he can efficiently beat defenders wide and take the puck to the goal or he can snap a heavy shot towards the net or adjust his speed to allow a team mate to slip into a scoring area before sending a deadly accurate pass to the blade. A well rounded layer who plays with lots of competitiveness, he works hard on the forecheck and the back check. Makes a big overall presence on the game in all three zones. Elevates the play of others on his line and he is always determined to make a difference. A lead by example kid with great character. Oremba is sure to be a top ten pick and will likely be captain at some point in the WHL, our comparable for Sam is Jake Debrusk.
